Appy Couple: Real Proposal

You might remember me briefly mentioning our wedding website (and app!) in my post about iPhone organization…I love our Appy Couple website!!  It was fun and easy to make - you design the website, and it automatically creates an app version as well…and there are literally a million aspects of it I don't even take full advantage of!

Anyway, I will go into way more detail about ours and all of its goodness at a later date - that is not the point of this post!!  The point of this post is to share with you the most recent blog post from Appy Couple's blog, Love Notes….check it out here! I'll give you a minute :)….

Yup! Ant and I are featured as a part of their "Real Proposals" series.

Now…if you happen to follow Appy Couple on instagram, you may have noticed this picture that was posted four months ago.  Someone from Appy Couple had reached out to me and asked if I would be willing to share the story of how Ant and I met, along with a picture of my ring.  So I did!

At the end of last week, Maggie reached out to me again and asked if this time I would be willing to share our proposal story and a few pictures, for their blog.  Ironically enough, I had JUST written out the longer version of our proposal for our Justice of the Peace, so it was very easy to send that along with a couple of my favorite pictures.  Just about a week later she emailed me that it was up on the blog!  Pretty neat, huh?

Not going to lie…I love sharing the story of the day Ant proposed to me!  I don't need to do it very often anymore, so it's really fun to see it online for the rest of the Appy Couple world :)  The entire day was just very us…

Here's an excerpt for you…but then you should really go check out the blog post!

"I barely processed any of it! The last note said “so you might be laughing, or maybe crying, or probably both…but I need you to focus!” (he knows me so well) and gave me direction on where to meet him.  He was down by the water at Chaffinch Park in Guilford…a place we refer to as “ours”….it was low tide and he was out at the edge of the rocks waiting for me with the most beautiful ring.  I’ll never forget how nervous he looked, or how happy I was!"

Branford House RW: Jonathan Canlas

I haven't done a Branford House Real Wedding post in a long time - so I figured this beautiful Thursday was the perfect time to share some perfectly pretty images with you again!

These come from Jonathan Canlas, and I found them on Sixpence For Your Shoe's blog…so you should definitely check out the post there!  But these are a few of my favorites.

I love the rich blues and purples…and how stunning is that sunset shot of campus??? Sigh.

The 6 Month Sprint: Week 10

Hello May!

Saturday May 3: In a nutshell, Saturday is the first half of this post here…with some backstory here!  I spent the weekend in NYC visiting Katie, and we spent the entirety of Saturday walking around the city looking for shoes.  I ended up ordering them online - with the help of 2 day speedy delivery!  While we were out and about in Manhattan we also did some research into gold bridesmaids shoe options.

I already shared a ton of shoe related pictures, so here are a few of all of the other wonderful parts of the weekend.  AKA the food...

Also, you have to love these shots we took outside of MSG at a Rangers event…the making of, and the final product!

Monday May 5: Trying to get refocused after the weekend, I emailed Max and told him we were in!  ALL in.  Because I have not only convinced Ant a videographer is necessary but also ruined his budget concerns about it.  I LOVE bringing him to my wedding planning dark side :)  Max immediately got back to us with the contract, because he is my favorite type of vendor and has a response time of like 2.5 seconds.

Tuesday: Have I told you how much I LOVE getting mail??  It is absolutely my favorite.  It's like Christmas, on any random day of the week.  Well, on this particular Tuesday, my shoes came in!  In a beautiful box at my back door.  I tried them on, traipsed around in them, took pictures of them, and did a happy dance.  They're perfect!  and just in time, phew :)

Wednesday May 7: While I was at work late, I called Kathy to see if she would be available to walk through the Branford House with us while we were there on Thursday.  I waited until last minute like whoa, but realized we would probably have some free time in between our appointments, and thought it might be a good chance to go over a few little details/logistics.

Okay, not a very interesting round…I covered all the shoe excitement already in a couple of posts!  But that's what you get - the reality of it.  Some weeks are just less exciting in the wedding planning world. Sorry!  For what it's worth, the next post will start with one of the more exciting things I've done in the last couple of months…..

Talk about a cliff hanger!!! :) Happy Friday!

Bridal Shoes - my glacier beauties!

My wedding shoes.  I already talked to you here about what a headache they were to find...{which I'm sure left you on the edge of your seats!}  Luckily, I had Katie to keep me focused {and sane and energized} as we walked the entirety of Manhattan.  I'll give you a hint, delicious food helps!  When we got home, we ended up doing some online searching, and I found these.

They fit a lot of the criteria I was looking for.  They are heels, but not too tall {so hopefully comfortable for an entire night of dancing???}.  They are a nice pop of color, without being too matchy matchy with the boys...a lot of blue bridal shoes are a darker/navy blue, and I was worried it would look like I was trying to match, and failing.  No bueno.  They give the impression of a classic beautiful bridal shoe,  with just the right amount of sparkle with their gorgeous spanish inspired detail, and their light blue & peep toe were JUST summery enough.  YES PLEASE.  So I ordered them!

**Of course, they were out of stock in my size through Badgley Mischka, but I found them on Zappos!  Also, they run small, so I NEVER would have ordered the right size if I hadn't tried on the tall gold ones I'd loved in Bloomingdales, and realized I needed to go up a size.  I also paid for 2 day shipping, even though Zappos standard shipping is free, because I was worried about them coming in in time for my first fitting!

Thanks to Zappos speediness, they came in two days before my first fitting!  They fit AND they were comfortable!  Their sparkle also matches my earrings & hair comb PERFECTLY…like they were meant to go together.  They aren't too tall, so I had no trouble traipsing around the house in them. {and traipse I did! our poor hardwood floors}.  The color is absolutely beautiful…in iPhone photos you can barely tell they are blue, but in person the "glacier" is just enough.  Happy happy happy.

Can't wait to show you more pictures of them on me WITH my dress.  But for now, these fuzzy shots will have to do…

What do you think??  What are your dream wedding shoes?  Or better yet, what did your wedding shoes look like??  Send me a link to your pics!  You know I'm a sucker for any photos wedding related.

Happy Birthday Sparkly...

Excuse the world's nerdiest post title…but that is how I am titling today.  Sparkly turns one - it is our one year anniversary of getting engaged!  Which is making me very nostalgic from a blogging perspective as well, since that was what finally got me motivated to start my blog!

If you haven't gone back that far, you should read my first blog posts here and here!  They're the ones where I first talked about the vision for our wedding.  I haven't actually read them in awhile, and it was cool to see how close to that original vision we've stayed.

Anyway, more for another day.  Ant and I are still enjoying a {mostly} unplugged day off together celebrating!  I'll leave you with a few shots of our spot, from last year and our visit this afternoon…

Happy Birthday!!!

As you may know, this week is birthday week.  Today, the love of my life turns 26.  Today we will barely see each other, but tomorrow we are celebrating both of our birthdays, as well as our 1 year of engagement {not sure if that's a thing people celebrate?? but I'm all about excuses to celebrate!}  All he asked for for his birthday is that we have an "unplugged" day together - so you won't hear from me much tomorrow!  But, I did want to take a few minutes and put up a quick photo year in review.  We have had an AMAZING year, 25 was certainly good to us.  I am so excited for what this upcoming year is going to bring us.  Happy Birthday to the guy who makes my life better every single day!  You make the journey we are on the best kind of adventure.  We are truly lucky. xoxoxxx
