Engagement pics!

Our engagement pics came back!

Things are happening too quickly in my life these days, so I feel like this blog is being written backwards.  I start with the final product, and then blog backwards about all of the details leading up to it!  For example - the process of getting our engagement pics.  We had such a good time brainstorming ideas, outfits, etc...and an AMAZING time working with Rachel (from NEHS) on the day of our shoot!  We couldn't be more thrilled with how they came out - they are so us.  I will certainly go back and give you all of those lovely little details one day soon, but in the meantime, here are a few of our favorites...

Venue - THE choice!

I promised I'd finish my posts about the venue search soon - unfortunately the moving process slowed me down a bit!  In any case...after months of internet searching and days of visiting venues, Ant and I finished up that Thursday 100% on the same page about where we wanted to get married!

Our wedding will take place at the Branford House on the Avery Pt Campus of UConn!

The building is strikingly beautiful - and it couldn't be on a better location.  One of my requirements was to be on/near the water - and its huge sprawling lawn goes straight out to Long Island Sound.  It is a dramatic enough location that it won't need much from us as far as decor is concerned - my goal is to keep it simple and let the setting speak for itself!

The Branford House is set up in 3 different rooms, each with it's own beautiful fireplace.  I was worried that the 3 rooms might make the event a little disjointed, but after discussing catering options and feeling more comfortable with our less formal dinner plan - I think the space will work perfectly!  The huge windows in the center of the house are in the main room, which will be where we have the dance floor - the doors will open right up onto the patio creating the perfect social space.  The smaller rooms on the side will be used for dinner & a space for people to get away from the noise for a bit....maybe the photo booth!!

One of the things I wasn't 100% sure I loved about the Branford House initially was the dark carved walls.  I envisioned a more light, pretty wedding and didn't know if the walls would be too dark and intricate for that type of event.  Ironically enough, when we drove away and I brought up that concern, Ant said the walls were one of his favorite parts! He thought they made the building that much more unique.  Guess it was meant to be!  As you can see in the wedding above - the right pale pinks and whites can brighten up the room pretty quickly.

Can't beat the view!  Look at all that lawn - perfect for a lawn-game filled cocktail hour!!

We are so so excited to be able to move forward with all the planning - and I couldn't be more thankful that we were on the same page 100% with this decision!
